To report a campus emergency, call the University Police at 205-348-5454 or 911.
The University will notify the campus community in the event of an impending emergency (e.g., severe weather, gas leak, etc.) that may affect the campus, or an actual emergency that happens on campus.
Depending on the nature of the incident, some or all of the following methods to communicate may be used.
- UA Alerts -which can simultaneously send text messages, emails and voice calls to home and mobile phones
- University E-mail – Emails are sent to Crimson.UA.edu for students and UA.edu addresses for employees.
- UA Alert messages displayed in the UA Safety App
- Digital Signage in campus buildings
- Notifications on employees’ office telephones
- Desktop notifications on computers running the Alertus Desktop Notification software that are connected to the UA network
- Messages the Alerts and Emergency Information website
- Messages on the UA homepage
- Messages on 92.5 FM UA Info Radio
- Indoor Public Address System in all UA buildings
- Outdoor Public Address System which covers the campus
- Outdoor Warning Siren which is managed by the Tuscaloosa Emergency Management Agency and is primarily used for Tornado Warnings
- Crimson Ride Marquees display warning information
- Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA)
- @UA_Safety on Instagram, Facebook and X
- NOAA Weather Radios which are available for purchase at the UA Supply Store
- Local Television and Radio Stations (WVUA 23 television, WVUA Radio 90.7 FM, Alabama Public Radio)
